PCI-E come out

What is the chance of getting an RMA if the PCI-E has come away from the board. The board is less than 28 days old. When I received the board the PCI-E was not laying flat against the board and was slightly up, but I took no notice and didn't think it would be a problem. I took my old graphic card out and the whole slot came with it, exposing some damaged pins. I have never come across this before and the latch was fully open. Do you think I will be able to get a replacement for this board?

Any help would be appreciated.

I think you'll struggle to prove you didn't damage it yourself but it's worth dropping an email to the retailer and seeing how far you get.

Thanks for your reply. I have sent a note to the retailer but they just keep saying it's my fault. As you say it's very hard to prove.
Just wanted a second opinion. Do you know if there is anywhere I could go to argue my case legally? Do you think I would win?

what make? asus/gigabyte/asrock

gigabyte=no problem

asus= your **** outa luck

asrock= you might get it fixed

deal with the manufacturer directly and not the retailer

It is a Gigabyte UD5 Z77 chipset. What will happen if I cut the pins as I needed the board for my computer. Will Gigabyte still accept it if I remove the pins but send it back as a faulty PCI-E if I explain what had happened?

why do you need to cut the pins?

don't cut anything just send it back and explain what happened,they will repair it for free

email gigabyte uk and request an rma,fill in the form,usually takes 1-3 days for a reply

Gigabyte should have left the design of the lever like this one.

Take a look at the ASUS one. The lever has got a slight hollow so you could put a screwdriver to push it back and to make sure it is fully open.

In my opinion the Gigabyte has a bad design on the lever slot. Although, it appears to be fully open from anybody's view but it could still not be completely open.

I have been searching and I couldn't find anything to get this board sent back as they are stating it was my error. I don't think this distance regulation is going to work out this time. Just hoping the Gigabyte will be able to replace it or repair it.
