F I N A L L Y moving to PCI-E, card (8800 GTX) says to attach two extra 6 pin connectors but my board is PCI-E 2.0 which is supposed to provide extra power. So do you still have to add the two extra connectors?

Yes, the card itself is only PCI-E 1.1 and won't suck 150w from the PCI-E 2.0 slot, instead only taking 75w so you'll need both connectors for it to work properly. It'll be the same for 2900 XT's as well and all other PCI-E 1.1 cards.
