I read a bit about this and it doesnt make much sense.
Everyone says you should hold at 100mhz, however I cant go below 120mhz without failure to post, likewise 125mhz and the HDDs get knocked out (3 x sata), so failure to boot the OS. My CPU is clocked at 350mhz / 2.8Ghz. if I go to 351mhz, no post.

Surely having the PCI-E this high isnt good? Pretty new to OC'ing so any advice is more then welcome.

[EDIT] got cpu to 355, any higher no post

You're best keeping it below 115mhz to avoid hard drive corruption.

I find that 105mhz gives me a bit more stability without going anywhere near danger.

Lowest it'll go is 119mhz, any lower it wont even post.

Also if I up the cpu over 355mhz it knocks the HDD's out.

Luckly this mobo has a OC safe guard for failed settings =)

Is there anyway to squeeze more out the board? Its currently at 2.84Ghz. I've already flashed it upto the latest bios which allows setting the cpu over the maximum 350mhz stated - if I can get it to post....
Mobo here: http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=ConRoe945G-DVI&s=Intel

Well some dont set above 100mhz for any reason to do with the GPU performance getting better, they have to set it higher to OC the FSB of CPU or its unstable. (Intel)

apparently its not really good for much from what I can tell. I only upped mine as they mobo wont post with it any lower.
Effectivly it increases your PCIE bandwidth, however this is pretty pointless as no current pcie devices utilise the full available bandwidth of (feel free to correct me) approx 4gb/s. well, thats what i can make out from a bit of google action.

some people say on FM06 that from 110 to 115mhz gives 200 extra points.

getting back to my original point, if 100mhz is recomended, i dunno why my system insists on 120mhz....

posted at same time as me, ha ha, ok, well, that has answered my question, at least its no just me

I know nVidia 680 based boards overclock the bus to 125 if you enable Linkboost, which is why I think they have decided to drop it recently.

However, I can enable it and run at 125 with no issues at all.
