so yeah a friends got a budget of 60 delivered, he's got a 8600gt in there atm with 256 mb ram and a 700mhz clock speed.

What is there out that doesnt require power from the psu thats better and delivered for =>60

?

Something that'll give him better than 30fps in skyrim

Thats a 2gb card it should be able to cope with skyrim at 30 fps with maybe medium setting, tbh thts the best i can find for 60 quid the low end 7770s start at 70, i had a 5770 1gb it could magae skyrim on atleast 40 and it was a 1gb that with 2gbs should be more than capable

Thanks :)

5770 had 800 stream processors clocked at 850MHz with ddr5, the 6570 has 480 clocked at 650MHz with ddr3. So not a good comparison. Core speed is more important than amount of ram. Second hand or spending a bit more would be a better bet.

I just saw an ad for a 1gb 5770 that apparently 'Runs all games on high/ultra settings with good FPS'. He wants £100 for it...

Hopeful, mental, straight up BS or all three? :D

Then again, at a certain res...

The last one I'm afraid, a 5770 is in no way capable of running recent more demanding games at high/ultra settings with playable frame rates (unless at rubbish resolutions). £100 is a massive rip off as well, I wouldn't pay more than about £50 for one.

Oh, I know. It was kind of my point :)

I was a little tempted to entertain myself with some fun messaging this evening. Still might ;)

Btw, I just found that I can play ME2 and ME3 @720p using only the power of my IGP. Cool huh? :D
