PCI-E help - PCI-E card not working

Guys,

I've just completed my build and I'm currently running of the Onboard graphics card and I'm struggling to try and get my Sapphire HD7950 working!

I've got a Gigabyte Z77-DS3 and a Sapphire HD 7950 Graphics card, I've looked in the BIOS and tried to change it from onboard gfx to 'PEG' and saved and exited but no joy.

The card is powered and fans spinning however, I'm totally confused as to why it's not working. I'm trying to use the DVI connector. Have not tried the HDMI connector.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Daft question - Both power connections connect to the card! (probably insulting your intelligence but got to ask)

Check your BIOS rev and see if there is a update available.
 
Whats the make and model of the PSU? Also have you tried updating the BIOS to the latest version using @BIOS on desktop. Not a great fan of the DS3 because of whats been dumbed down on it.
 
Its almost as if the Motherboard is not taking any of the settings. When I change the initial display option from Auto to 'PEG' it doesn't take the settings.

Will look into a BIOS update. Anyone wanna brief me on how to do it?

Bios update usually fixes` this problem. Certainly was the case with the D3H.

What is your actual motherboard Is it the DS3H?
 
Last time I did mine I formatted a USB stick and did through the BIOS its self.

You do it through Windows but it s more risky.

Download the Bios from the link in my other post, to either a pendrive or hdd. Just follow the instructions in your manual:
4-2-1 Updating the BIOS with the Q-Flash Utility

Before going any further check your BIOS rev, it may be the case you might have F9.

Your @BIOS should show and CPU-Z.

If your older then use F9.
 
It says that I've got a 'Z77-DS3H F6'

So I guess I'm funning F6 BIOS? I've just downloaded the F9 and I'm about restart . . .
 
still no joy.

BIOS successfully flashed yet it still doesn't take my changes.

Strange because it took the change when I set the time and date, yet it doesn't accept the changing of 'Initial display' from Auto to PEG!

Any other ideas guys?
 
This is really frustrating; does anyone know of any checks that I could do to see if it's my motherboard or Graphics Card? I can bring a crappy old PCI-E graphics card home from work to see.

Anyone else have any other suggestions?

See if you can test the card in the second PCI-E slot, if it works then it could be the motherboard / PCI-e slot.
 
Ok, I'll give that a go when I get home later. I think I'll give another graphics card a try too!

We'll see how I get on!
