firstly could some one explain the difference to me and does a PCI-E need a PCI-E slot or will it fit in a PCI slot (but would lose speed)

think it might be a dumb question just checking

I doubt it, PCI videocards are a couple of years old, if you have a mobo that has no PCI-E or AGP slots for videocards I guess the system is quite old?
 
I remember I almost made this mistake with a friends eMachines PC a while back, almost bought a PCI-Express Graphics card by mistake, when it only had PCI and no AGP ports!
