I'm looking to install 2 new GPU's into my PC. I need them to be sited remotely from the mobo but I'm unsure how this works.

I've seen riser cards but I'm not sure how they work with regards to bandwidth. The PCI-e 1x to 16x riser cable:

This one!

seems like it would do the job, but if it connects via PCI-e 1x slot, does that mean I won't get full bandwidth from 2x R9 290X GPU's?

Are there other solutions? :p

Yes. Search for a x16 riser card?
Look elsewhere, ocuk don't stock them
They are just ribbon cables so don't give a great deal of flexibility
How remotely are you thinking?

The cards need to be sat around 6-8 inches from the motherboard.

I've been googling 16x cards but it seems like 1x -> 16x are more common so I'm still sifting.

Thanks for confirming they do exist though! :D

EDIT: First look on amazon with the right search words brings up a 16x -> 16x riser card :D
