Was looking at some nice case mods today and say one that went vertical and thin by use of a riser cable for the pci-e, after a little research I see these were all the rage for bitcoin miners but I like the general Idea of them for the ways I can place parts.

I am soon going to be making a custom case for my system and thinking about using risers but wondered if anyone here has any experience of them?

I don't really care about being able to make the full use of the latest gpu card as most of my gaming doesn't need that, generally the most graphic intensive task this system has is playback of 1080p content. So do risers cause any problems with data transmission or are there any other concerns to think about?

True but I do use this system for some gaming etc too so I tend to make sure I have a mid range gpu for that. Providing I am not trying try run crisis 17 at 8k 6000fps would a pci-e riser bottleneck my system in any way?

Did forget to mention it will be using the x16 slot and so be a powered riser.
