Pci-e sound card with optical out and dts

Well any sound card with SPDIF can pass through DTS from a DVD/Blu-ray, to an external decoder. If you are wanting to use DTS and 5.1 sound for gaming, then you would need a sound card that is capable of real time 5.1 DTS encoding. Xonar DS, is the cheapest card capable of that.

Hi I have a xonar DS but is that not PCI ?? Im needing pci-e as I want to upgrade my Rampage III black edition

I need real time 5.1 DTS encoding

Oh yes, my mistake, wasn't paying attention! :o

X-Fi Titanium, would be the cheapest then that offers DTS real time encoding. Cheapest PCI-E Xonar that does, would be the D2/D2X. D1/DX is Dolby only.

Cheers i like the xonar range so D2 it is as Creative has too much software

Sorry meant to say does this card have the little black plastic thing that you stick in to get optical out

It has the same type of socket as the Essence. Which is a coaxial socket, but can take a mini toslink cable, or normal toslike via an adaptor. My Essence came with one, so the D2/D2X would as well.

Actually scrap that Idea of optical out as my logitech 5450 Digital 5.1

Im using the two optical inputs at the moment and have the coaxial spare ,

Will I get 5.1 out of that too??
