I have the Abit AW9D-MAX mainboard and if you own one you know that the onboard sound is pretty poor but with only one PCI slot you are a little restricted (mine has my wireless LAN in it).

After finding the PCI-E soundcards I thought I may be able to utilize the 2nd PCI-E slot on my mainboard for it.... but the one listed by Creative..

Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 Soundcard (PCI-Express) - OEM

Is a little low spec for what I consider a fairly decent system.

I'd prefer the X-Fi Gamer or Fatal1ty... does anyone know if there are other Creative cards available in PCI-E format apart from the X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1?????

Hmmm... ok...

Well I could junk my wireless for a while and use the lan port so I can stick my Audigy2 Platinum in the PCI port... I'm pretty sure that its better than the onboard...

Very dissapointed with the onboard sound.. they gave so much with this board and let it down with the sound and PCI-E slot locations (too close to PCI slot below it)..
