Hi there, sorry if this a real noobie question but ive just purchased an asus xonar dx, and im a bit stuck having had onboard before and had no conflicts, when I boot to windows with my overclock enabled my sound card vanishes from windows and in device manager it is reporting that there is no sound device installed, only when I put all settings back to default will the sound card work, the pci-e frequency is set to auto as when I set it manually it dosnt actually work and reverts to auto :S.

My other specs are: E6750 @ usually 3.2ghz, 4gb corsair 800mhz ddr2 ram, gigabyte p31-ds3l. Arctic Power 700W PSU

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Hi there, When I set the pci-e frequency to 100mhz it will boot up but when I check cpuz it has defaulted back to stock clock speeds and back in the bios I see its gone back to auto frequency again :S

Hi there, thanks for the replies , I have the latest Bios for my motherboard and that didnt work :(, then I changed the pci-express frequency to 101 but I was unable to find where to change the pci frequency. So i booted anyway with the pci-e frequency at 101 and it powered down restarted itself and subsequently powered down again straight atfter, I went back to bios to find that the pci-e frequency had gone back to auto and that the fsb was back at stock :(. If I leave the frequency alone and just overclock the cpu it will boot perfectly but I loose my soundcard lol

Hi again, yeah im totally stumped, I had disabled the onboard sound via the bios prior to installing the card, and i double checked and its all correctly disabled. So I am thinking possibly its my motherboard? Ive never used a pci-e x1 card before, does the fact it takes power off the 4pin floppy drive connector be making any difference? cant really see how the psu is at fault, while its certainly not the best one on the market it should be fine with what im running. lol wasnt expecting such trouble from a sound card! :D
