Hi All,

I'm looking to purchase a small form factor machine such as the Dell Optiplex 740 smal form factor and install a ATI FireMV 2400 256MB DDR DVI PCI-E x1 low profile Graphics Card.

The spec of the Optiplex 740 state PCI-E x 16 but the ATI card is PCI-E x 1.

Can anyone confirm if this would work? I'm well out of sync with stuff like this :D

Thanks,
R

Yeah pci-e slots are described two ways: physically and electronically

Ie you can have a physical 16x slot but it may only be 4x electronically (2nd slots on p35 boards are like this.

The good news is that all 1x, 4x, 8x cards work in 16x slots.
