I'm looking into getting a soundcard as I currently use onboard and have always believed a seperate card to be better. Just 'cause I love gimmicks I wondered if there are any PCI Express x1 sound cards out there that are worth getting. Am I right in thinking there would be benefits to plugging it in there rather than a normal pci slot?
as ever, cheers everyone for your help.

There arent any yet because the PCIe bus is designed to shift very large packets of data, where soundcards neeed a continuous stream of small ones.
