pci-e xfi

Meatloaf, I aint dumb, I know my Creative cards, I also know YouP-Pax to talk to and Classic_Leon in person, the card is a joke (again IMO) and so is the recent models inc Extreme Gamer etc ( there was no need for them apart from to try help Creatives falling sales), the hardcore Modders will tell you about Cheap DAC's and CAP's on them.

Just because you bought one after asking 100 Q's here and me inputing does not mean its a great card as it sounds ok, if your happy cool but its not a great card even looking at it you can see.

Why do you think Creative did not make the proper range in PCI-E sooner ?.

BTW, the info in your other thread is wrong, that cheap PCI-E card is not a PCI-E version of the Extreme Music card thats due soon, even looking at the parts shows that.

Read the full interview linked to for full details.

Dont get me wrong I thought it was a great card fort the money, and i only paid £25 for it. I sing its praises basically mas it was touted as having no hardware accelleration at all wheras in fact it does, albeit not up to EAX5 on a proper X-Fi but with vista using OpenAL that dosent matter so much anymore. And its certainly a lot better than motherboard audio ( or the audio on my board at least ) :)

I for one wish they would do a proper X-Fi on PCI-E as it would free up a PCI slot for a tv tuner

MeatLoaF, OPENAL gives you EAX in Vista, its only DIRECTSOUND that is removed from Vista, so the few games left using it (older mostly) you run them through Creative ALchemy. to convert to OPENAL if you want EAX working again.

I ran EAX 5 in Vista64 with BioShock (Im sure its that game thats got EAX5), the game uses OPENAL.
