A few questions on PCI 2.0

(1) When will PCI Express 2.0 graphics cards become avaliable?
(2) Will 2.0 cards work in the standard PCI Express interface on the nForce 680i?
(3) Will there be any benefit to going to version 2.0?
(4) Will seperate cards be released for 2.0?

I believe the new card from nvidia will be the first which will be November.

As for benifit, I doubt it. The cards out in November are only midrange and the 8800 GTX/Ultra is hardly suffering now for bandwidth through the pci express slot.

So it will be at least February before any card might need this extra bandwidth and even then it might not and could be over a year before you see anything which really needs it.

lol, stick to agp mate, its gonna outlive all these new pcie interfaces.

Arf! :)

Anyways, will the uber new cards actually require PCI Express 2? Or will I be able to use them with the nForce 680i?

I'm not looking to upgrade just now anyway, as I already have an 8800GTS, but I always like to keep my options open.

They're supposedly compatible with 1.1 PCI-E slots, which your board SHOULD have, but nothing is for definite yet and there's still a while to wait.
