Looking for a pci express card for a new system I am building.
I have been offered a 2nd hand Radeon X800XT 256mb for £75 is this worth it?
Or is there a better card with much better performance for similar price or £20 to £30 more on top for a brand new one?

thanks for input guys

Yup, brand new BFG 7600 GT is only £105, faster than a 6800 Ultra, and faster than the x800 XT, £75 is way to much for a 2nd hand x800 XT anyway id have thought, get the 7600 GT as said. :)

Also been offered 7800Gt for £110.

This any better?

Or should I still go for the 7600GT brand new?

I thought there was a buy and sell section on here?

I think the 7800 GT would be faster, to get the Members Market you need to have 250+ posts, and to have been registered for more than 90 days, then you just activate your trust, and then the Dons complete the activation in about 24hrs and the Members Market shows up. :)

Thanks for the advice.
I would prefer something new for warranty reasons etc.

But I am a little short at this time of year for obvious reasons.

Could probably spend close to £100 but this must include delivery.

Now is the time I wish I had on board video lol

£75 for an x800xt is way to high. Look at some of the prices knocking about on brand new cards.

For that kind of money, if you're willing to go 2nd hand you may be able pick up something like an x850xt pe or even a 7800gt perhaps.

I'd say avoid.

I've seen PCI-E X850XTs go for £25 at auction, although methinks that was an unfortunately spate of luck for the seller.

Considering the X800XTs are - for the most part - just as fast as 7600GTs, it's a question of 6 vs. half dozen. The X800XT draws about the same power, makes the same amount of noise, etc. but the 7600GT has a new feature set (SM3 for all the not very huge difference it makes).

get a 7900GS for about 120, there good for the money, get good 3D mark score with mine and they clock pretty well, it is a 20 (16 ROP, same amount as 7900GT) pipeline card afterall, compared to the 12 of the 7600GT

seems like a good matched video card for the spec. i have a mate who runs a similar setup and it can handle most things he throws at it :). For what they are worth the 7600GT series are really nice cards...
