PCI Express & Crossfire: Scaling Explained

I have a P35 board and this does not really bother me as crossfire is a bit overkill for the resolution that I play at (1680x1050).

What does have been slightly worried is to see PCI-E v2.0 starting to pull away from V1.1 which might effect the performance of some future high end cards.

apparently PCIe2 is twice as fast as PCIe1.1 per lane. so an 8x PCIe 2.0 should be the same as a 16x PCIe1.1 lane

well ill just wait a year and get the next release of the 4870 x2 type of card or a single core one.

Thats a very helpful review for people considering xfire with the P35 board (ie dont do it for the love of god)

you do know that the 3/4870 X2 just split the lanes of the slot there in into 2 8x=, so its basically the same as running 2 3/4870s on a dual 8x PCIe1.1 board when using it on a P35
