PCI-EXPRESS extension cables

I'm having an issue at the minute where I've got 2 zotac amp extreme 980ti cards, they are awesome cards but also triple slot so makes sli a slight problem. I have a corsair 900D case so there's enough room to have the second card right at the bottom of my case and use and extension cable. I've done a bit of research and they don't seem to cause any issues, I just wondered if any of you guys have experience with such a setup. I also understand I'd need to modify an sli bridge to reach.

By extension I presume you mean a riser? I can't see any problem, just make sure you get a powered 16x riser so it won't bottleneck the card. The SLI bridge is another thing altogether though as the longest I can find are only 120mm long. Is it even possible to make one?

Yeah that's what I meant and the one I'm looking at is indeed powered, the sli bridge I'm not worried about as I have a few knocking about and i'm good with a soldering iron.
