PCI Express question

I have an Asus Rog Strix x299-E motherboard and an Intel i9 7900X CPU. This configuration gives me 44 PCI Express lanes to use. I already use 16 lanes for a Nvidia 1080Ti, and I also have an NVME PCI-E SSD installed, but I don't know how many PCI-E lanes that takes up (I'm guessing 4x).

I want to get an internal capture card, and because it is meant to get very hot, I want to put it in the PCI-E slot furthest away from my graphics card to aid in cooling (the motherboard has 4 16x slots).

Is this going to cause any problems? Do I need to place the capture card in the PCI-E slot right next to my GPU or can I put it in the slot furthest away?

I don't think you will have any issues using the very end pcie slot. That board can do x16/x16/x8 with a 44 lane cpu.
