Hi, what card would you recommend in this price range?

Bear in mind the PC is a P4 3.0 HT, 1GB DDR 2 4200 Ram.

He will not play games above 1024*768 due to monitor constraints.
 
8600GT for £70 is his best option IMO.

Obviously if looking secondhand that some more options open up... maybe a 7900gs, 1800xt, x1900gt or something along those lines.

Dont have any experience with these but remember that the 8600gt sucks less wattage than the 1950pro and doesn't even need to be powered independently. Its powered via the motherboard like cards of yesteryear.

The 8600gts has dedicated power.
 
oh thats good then.

His PC is a dell , so he has one of them 300w psu's. theyre quite hefty tho. much larger then your avg psu.

do u reckon it would cope?
