Hey.
I think I have finally figured out what my issues were with my GT240 which is now back in the shops.
I have a PCI 1.0 slot and was running a GT240 apparantly only compatible to PCI 2.0. First question is this a correct assumption?

Secondly i have been told that the older Club 3D GeForce 9800 GT Green Edition 1024MB PCI-Express GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card is backwards compatible, so even though on you store the bus type is lsited as PCI 2.0 it will run in a PCI-E 1.0 slot? Correct?

Thanks

Don't know an answer to that sorry :(

Thread title needs to read 'PCi-Express Compatibility' realllly.. I came in here on an offchance wondering why someone was still using PCi slots for their GPU ;)

That wouldnt be my first guess..PCI-E 2.0 was designed to be backwards compatible with PCI-E 1.1, but not necessarily 1.0 or 1.0a. If you post the model of your motherboard we can probably give you a better idea of whether that's the problem in this case.

I don't recall reading a thread so sorry if you've already said, but what were the actual issues you were having?

My issues were that my old X1300 broke. it no longer shows true black, instead a nasty green tone on everything. So i upgraded to the GT220 which played my flight sim IL2 1946 at frames of 2-5 FPS on average. So went for the GT240 had the same results. Now it has come to my attention that both of these cards were PCI 2.0 something i didn't even know mattered until yesterday.
Not sure how to find out my motherboard details.
