PCI slot covered by GPU

Hi guys,

I have an ASUS Steamroller x99 Motherboard with a 7990 GPU plugged into slot 1.

I am for reasons I wont bore you with having to go wireless and I enjoy a bit of an FPS game every now and then :)

I've just bought a dual band wireless network card that arrives today and I planned to fit it tonight to go with my new dual band super modem.

However, I've just noticed the PCI slot is covered by the GPU.

It has been about 6 months since I built this machine but I assume I put it the GPU in that slot for a reason.

My question is:

1) Will I get a drop in performance if put the GPU in another slot, freeing up the PCI slot I need?

2) Which is the best other slot to put it in?

Thanks Guys.

If its pci-express you can chuck it into any pci-e slot
