Hi guys,

Just purchased a new gpu and have fitted it into my PCI 2.0 x16 slot as I couldn't get my last gpu to play nice with the PCI 3.0 slot on my MSI Z68A-G43 (G3) mobo.

Just installed my 6950 and everything works fine etc, though gpu-z is reporting strange pci lane numbers which I'd like some help with...

Note that in the manual it states that it is a PCI 2.0 x16 lane, then in brackets that it supports up to x4, a statement that seems so contradictory to itself I can't make sense of it.

Either way, GPU-z is reporting a PCI 1.1 (incorrect) at x4 usage.

Can anybody help me with diagnosing this issue? I'm going to try and put the card into the PCI 3.0 slot and hope I can get it working like it should from there for the time being.

Okay, I've managed to solve the problem.

I think the BIOS Update I did a few weeks back fixed my PCIe-3.0 slot as I re-seated my 6950 into the 3.0 slot and it worked like a treat. Currently running at 2.0 x16 bandwidth, just as I'd hoped.

It seems poor design on the mobo's behalf to have a 2.0 x16 slot that only runs at x4, but stranger things have happened so I'll let it slide!

Thanks for the quick responses guys. Problem solved.
