PCi Slots.

Just a quick question.

I have a 5970 and a 5870 in tri-fire, my 5870 is on the top slot due to having problems in some games with tri-fire, as i can't turn crossfire off on my 5970.

Now, my question is this; Despite what i said above for my reasons for putting the 5870 in the top slot, should my 5970 be in the top slot instead? I ask this because iirc, the top slot is the faster PCi slot and i'm wondering whether my 5870 should be in the PCi slot beneath the 5970 instead of the top slot?

What motherboard is it?

It probably doesnt make much difference in the end though.

In theory I suppose you want the HD 5970 in the faster slot but as long as it's in a slot that's fast enough it's not really going to make a difference.

Which motherboard do you have?

Both slots operate at x8 speed with 2 cards installed so swapping them around won't make any difference.

I loled at all this editing malarkey

However, I think (and I'm not 100% sure if it's on these forums) you can post and go right back into it so long as no other has posted and edit it without it registering as an edit, as far as it contains no notification at the bottom of said post.

As for the OP, just have a look at your mobo specks online, if your mobo has one x16 and one x8 you will want the 5970 in the x16 slot for best performance. if they are both x16 it doesn't matter
