PCI speeds

Ok i thought that the PCI speed in the BIOS would affect the hard disk ?!?! am i looseing my mind
(as i have done some testing and to me it seems to make no diffrence)

The board is an Asus P5K Premium/WiFi-AP

iirc (and thats a big if as i've had more than a few) PCI speeds are delt with by the south bridge, HDDs are usually on one of the south brigde channels but a different one to the PCI sockets, so PCI bus speeds would have no effect on hdd throughput.
