Hi,

i just moved into a new house with a couple friends and as a result weve had to get a wireless connection. My computer hasnt got a wireless card and i have no idea which one to get.

I play CS a lot so ill need something that wont affect my ping too much..

also is it better to get a usb wireless dongle or a pci card?

weve got a bt home hub (the black one) if that helps..

I am moving bedroom and I also need to pick myself up a wireless card. I was looking on eBay and found that they are normally £15-£20 in shops whereas on eBay were more like £7-£8 and sometimes even a 108mbps card.

Not quite sure what the difference between the 56mbps and 108mbps but im guessing the 108 ones are better.

Any you would recommend? Ive read good reviews about a couple but the same wifi cards got terrible user reviews..so im a bit confused at the moment..

If gaming you would be better off with a cable or using home plug as mentioned above.

well for the time being i got a 10m ethernet cable instead which was the cheapest option..although im worried about losing line quality because of the length of the cable..if i do get crap speeds ill just have to invest in a decent wireless card or homeplug system..

10m ethernet cable is a tiny fraction of the permitted length it will not adversely affect broadband. If it was a 10m phone cable that woul dbe a different matter.

Wifi is a world of pain compared with cables and homeplug

ok good to know the lan cable wont affect speed and im sure its better than wireless..

thanks for the help

my wireless connection has the same performance as my other pc connected via a cable. i guess its just a matter of finding the right wireless card.
