PCI wireless network card - how to establish range/power?

I'm needing to get a PCI wireless network card to replace my previous (and frankly useless) USB wireless dongle. The thing is, I'd like to put the PC a decent distance away from the wireless router and so need a high powered card, if such a thing exists. Anybody know what I should be looking for, or has a recommendation for me?

It's a Sky one - pretty sure they're standard netgear routers
