So what's the difference between PCIe 16x and PCIe 16x (2.0)?

I shelled out 10€ more on my board just because it had the PCIe 2.0 and my previous didn't, and my graphics card supports PCIe 2.0.

What is it?

PCIe 2.0 doubles the bandwidth per lane. So the theoretical maximum throughput goes from 4Gb/s to 8Gb/s on an x16 slot.

I have also read that it can provide more power compaired to PCIe 1.

Yes, lots of them.

Even my two year old intel DX38BT has two 16x PCIe 2.0 slots.

Oh neat, for some reason I have it stuck in my head that SLI boards only had x8/x8 or something.
