PCIE better than an X850XT AGP?

recently bought an x850xt agp card for my aging system but as my mb blew I upgraded to a dual board. Im now looking to dump the agp card and was wondering whether I would see much improvement with a pcie 7600 GT?

current specs are an asrock 939dual, amd 64 3700 sd, 2gigs geil value.

Im not sure about the 7600GT, but youd certainly see a difference with an X1800XT.

Flog the X850 and get a X1800XT or a 7900GT.

If your budget allows then is is your best option. I went from an agp x850xt to my x1800xt an the difference was huge.

budget 150 - 200, my psu is a brand spanking new enermax liberty 500w. I think it was my old psu that took out the mb with it

At that price bracket this springs to mind.

X1800XT at 170 but try if you can and get the 512mb version.

I have pretty much the same spec as you sleepless and i was also thinking of moving to a PCIE card for that extra performance in BF2

There will be a benefit from just going from AGP to PCI-Ex on the Asrock939 Dual-Sata even if you were using exactly the same card. Time for that X1800XT.

How much of a gain would you get? I am running a AGP 7800GS, if I was to sell that and get myself a 7900GT PCIe would I see massive gains?

7600gt is better than a 6800 ultra so the 7600gt would be a tad bit better than the x850xt too. also the 7600 has additional features like shader model 3.0 etc.

7800GS is slightly slower than an X850XT PE so you will see good gains going to a 7900GT. The cards I would upgrade to from an X850/7800GS are either 7900GT and higher or X1800XT and higher. These will make the upgrade worthwhile.
