PCIE cable modding question

I was wondering if any of you had any input on how to go about modding the PCIe cables so that they're as close to 90° or flat/low-profile as possible and of course, safe to use?

Here's the issue:

Basically, the above pic shows them blocking my side fans from being able to be slid across so that they're at about the end of the gpu pcb.

I've seen a couple of 90° cable extensions from the US on the auction site, but they're horrible and would need braiding.
Nobody seems to sell them in the UK.

So, anyone have the requisite skills or know how to get this done? It'd help a lot with my future case mod plans.

That's an option :D

I've actually decided to go for watercooling, so I won't need these modded after all.
I don't need better temps, I just want to build something :)
Fiddler's itch is a terrible affliction :o
