pcie frequencies and other questions!

hi all, was wandering what the general concensus of opinion is on wether it is safe to up the pcie frequency, i have heard mixed reports varying from some people saying 125 mhz is fine, some saying not, *** do you overclockers reckon??

i am on an xfx 7800gt extreme and dfi sli-dr mobo.

also what is the score with the ldt, i am at 2.5 in order to get 3 ghz out of my 146 opty, does it have a massive impact on performance to do this?? thanx i nadvance for all your help!

Yup leave your PCI-E at 100Mhz.

As for LDT, dropping it to 2.5 is fine, as you'll have upped your HTT to 300 to get to 3ghz. So your total HT speed will be 300x2.5= 750Mhz, easily enough to give you sufficient bandwidth. You'll more than likely find leaving your LDT on 3 will be stable too.

If it is the same as changing the AGP speed there is no advantage, I have even seen reports of performance dropping with increase bus speed.

AMD systems are not limited by the ldt multiplier so there is no difference between 3x and 5x, in your case I would use 3x as that is low enough.

If you are running sli 115mhz is a nice PCI-e Freq and yes you will see improvements in benchmarks, Thats what Mav, Kingpin etc use.

I wouldnt recommend for 24/7 use though

yeah thanx, i think i might leave it be, my ldt is stable at 3 yey!
im` just a bit unhappy with the overclock on my 7800gt, it wont budge really, im stuck at around 480/1100, i was really hoping for more! hpoe i havent reached the limit of the card, and no, i am not runnin sli.

what has everyone else got with the xfx led edition??

just run 3dmark @ 489/1200, today must be a better day for it!

I had it running at 485Mhz for a while until I started playing F.E.A.R. that started showing corruption on the floors, I had to lower to 470Mhz until I started playing Oblivion gave me problems with staying black when fast travelling so I lowered to 460Mhz.

I don't think I hit the max memoryclock though but I can't be bothered to do more testing for a few fps more

i know what you mean, it just ran at 490/1200 fine, then when i tried again, it crashed, lowered it to 480/1200, seems to be fine, all i wanna do is play farcry with real nice eye candy!! think i might go for an x1800xt 512 instead, are these much better?? i presume they will be, im hoping to swap my card and an opty 144 cab2e on another forum with a guy for his x1800xt.
hopefully this should help me reach 10k in 05 or something!

Both of mine run happily at 500/1200 (7800GT's - 450 stock), with the PCI freq @ 110%. When the frequency was at 100%, I got very choppy graphics when gaming, but they run sweet as now @110.

They're also water cooled which makes a HUGE difference.
