Well it depends on what you play

Using the RTX3090, CSGO did produce 42% higher minimum framerate with Gen 4 over Gen 3 - but everything else tested Gen 4 won by just a couple frames in the minimum and averages.

So Gen 4 isn't really worth it if you're an average gamer, stick to your old Gen 3 board.

But for people who like really high framerates well north of 100fps - Gen 4 appears to produce solid improvements, especially in minimums which is great for shooting games.

And FYI: Gen 5 is coming in 2022, not that it's expected to make any difference what so ever for GPU performance so no need to worry about it.

1080p very high fps, big difference on PCI-E 4.0 X16

2160p very little.

the csgo result was at 4k max graphics, watch again and with those settings produced 42% higher minimum fps on gen 4

It's worth it, just not for graphics cards.
