PCIE Gen 4 vs Gen 3, is there any difference?

Well it depends on what you play

Using the RTX3090, CSGO did produce 42% higher minimum framerate with Gen 4 over Gen 3 - but everything else tested Gen 4 won by just a couple frames in the minimum and averages.

So Gen 4 isn't really worth it if you're an average gamer, stick to your old Gen 3 board.

But for people who like really high framerates well north of 100fps - Gen 4 appears to produce solid improvements, especially in minimums which is great for shooting games.

And FYI: Gen 5 is coming in 2022, not that it's expected to make any difference what so ever for GPU performance so no need to worry about it.
