Hi.

I am running an A64 3000+ (939) - clocked to 2.5 gig, 2 gig ram, 7600GT.

I am looking for a new GPU. X1900GT - 7900GS - X1800XT

X1900GT Sapphire looks good, the X1800XT seems a bit old hat now and the 7900GS is a cut down 7900GT. Choices, Choices.

What would offer best bang for buck? I have allegeance to neither side, just after a good deal. 7600GT has been a good card, just fancy an upgrade.

The X1800XT is the fastest of the lot but is also the hottest and loudest, and I personally never recommend 7900GTs due to the months of horror they went through when their failure rates shot as high as 5%.

Personally I would say get the X1800XT, and if you can spare £15 to fit an Acellero X2 cooler you won't regret it.

You know you could always sell your 7600GT now and have an extra £60 or something to spend on the graphics putting your budget to £200 for a gfx card.

I don't really want to spend much more than that. Then there is the bottlekneck issue with the 3000+, overclocked = AMD 3500+

The plan was to PX my 7600GT and the CPU for an X3800+ at a well known high street PX computer/games shop. The X3800 would overclock nicely and I'd have a half decent gaming rig..
