Hi there,

I have an old HP desktop that requires a new gpu.

It previously had a ATI GPU.

This machine is on 24/7 and the PSU is not that powerful.

The replacement GPU should have a DVI and VGA output and not be too long or wide.

Would you replace it with a NVIDIA or ATI card?

Which card would you recommend?

The PC is not used at all for gaming, video editing, or anything graphics consuming its merely to display an output on the screen.

Please help

Thanks in advance

thanks for your quick responses...

Will the HD6450 draw too much power? I think the current PSU is like 400w only..

Also if its on 24/7 will that lead to issues with replacing PSU to resolve issue, I really dont wanna replace the PSU

Is it not overkill?

Are you sure the motherboard has a PCI-E x16 slot?

I would look at second hand PCI card. A lot of these have DVI outputs and can be picked up for a tenner second hand. Perfect for what you need it for.

No need to change the PSU. 400W is more than enough.

thanks for your continued help

from where?

thanks for the great link stulid

a 4350 would also suit your needs power usage is the same as 5450 but it should be a few squid cheaper if you can find a 2nd hand one
