Hi Guys,

I`m thinking about getting a 10gb network card to link up to my qnap server , I have heard that the ethernet card i need to get will use 4 lanes , how will this effect the overall performance of system

RIG:

Aorus Master Mobo
9900k CPU
2080ti GPU
samsung pro m.2 nvme SSD
WD Blue SSD x2
Corsair h100i Platinum RGB cooler
Corsair 32gb 3200mhz RGB Vengeance RAM

Apparently the PCIe x4 slot shares bandwidth with the M2P connector. If you're using that, it will only get 2 lanes. Otherwise would work fine.

Alternately you could put it in the x8 connector, then your graphics cards will drop down to x8 lanes rather than x16. In reality that's a small performance hit, worth looking up benchmark results.
