Me and some friends are starting to record battle reports for Starwars Shatterpoint got OBS setup and works fine, however have to have the web cams plugged into differnet USB ports rather than all in one hub as OBS does not pick the video up, we got round this by deactivating a camera while its not in use, however the setup is a bit messy.

I was looking at only using one hub but feel will run into bandwidth limitations with 4 or 5 cameras running at 1080p/60fps.

Would a thunderbolt or USB3 PCI-e card with a hub be better options if so what should I be looking at.

Thanks

Usually you can connect up to 3 usb cameras to one usb controller so adding another pcie usb controller should allow you what you need .

Thunderbolt apparently only allows 2 cameras per port but you may want to look into this further

It mite be better to have 2 cameras on each controller so they share the bandwidth equally over each controller

Hope that makes sense .
