PCIe x1 for Third Monitor?

Should I hook up a cheap PCIe card to my second PCI slot (only x1, my mobo doesnt support SLI) to hook up a third monitor?

Or will the x1 slot severely limit the card?

Any card will do, just get a cheap card and it'll be fine.

Make sure that you can fit it, some pci-e 1x slots are only big enough for a x1 card, you can drill out the end and fit any card, there are also a few x1 cards about.

You have the cards, you have the mobo... Why don't you try it and see if it fits? As others have said, the issue may be that the 1xslot has an end that blocks the card from fitting. This could be removed (carefully).

What is certain is that the card would not be as fast as normal as it doesn't have the bandwidth it really needs
