PCIe x16 problem. ASUS P6T + 4870X2

Hi,

I've got a 4870X2 seated in the first PCIe x16 slot on my ASUS P6T mobo.
The hardware report from Catalyst Control Centre is saying t"Max Bus setting is PCIe 2.0 x8"

Can somebody tell me if this is an error, and if so how to fix it? I have sen screenshots of other peoples reports saying "Max Bus setting PCIe 2.0 x16" so I'm wondering if I am losing out on some performance??

Is there any options in the BIOS for the PCIe speed?

The only settings in the BIOS that I can see relating to PCIE are:

PCIE Frequency: 100
IOH PCIE Voltage: Auto
ICH PCIE Voltage: Auto
PCIE Spread Spectrum: Auto
