Hey guys,

I have just bought a 430w XFX PSU and a GTX 760 as part of a xmas upgrade for a friend.

While Nvidia recommend a minimum of 500w for the GTX 760, the XFX 430w should easily cope with this and a 3570s.

The trouble is the PSU only came with one 6 pin pcie cable and the 760 needs two.

After doing a quick search I have read a few posts saying don't use a 6 pin splitter (1x6pin female - 2x6pin male). Can anyone think of a reason why this would be an issue? It would make cable management a lot easier compared to using a molex 6 pin adapter.

Cheers

Hey pasty thanks for your reply.

I can check later tonight and see if I can find a AWG rating on the cable. What would you say I'm looking for if I intend on using a 6 pin splitter?

I have seen similar results but most test bench systems are using either 2011 or overclocked 1150 CPU's. The CPU I have to pair with it is a 3570s (65w TDP) The Nvidia spec says 170w for the 760. Should hopefully come in sub 300w by the time I add the ram and HDD's.

I bought the PSU and Fractal 1000 as a bundle - £34.99 seemed like a really good deal but now looking at the Superflower that would have been the better choice.

Only bought it as the two came together in a bundle for a great price. If it was for me I would have bought something else but this is part of a xmas upgrade for a friend - need to watch the pennies! I'm sure with it being a rebranded Seasonic it'll not be a poor unit. Had I had the cash to buy a 960 instead of 760 it would be perfectly suited.

As you said pasty should hopefully be able to sell the XFX and get my money back.

Thanks again :)
