Pcie4 slot 1080ti @ 8x

I just upgraded to a 3700x + Aorus pro x570, I cant fit my 1080ti in the PCIe4 16x slot (fitted with an arctic accelero) as the hsf is colliding with a Noctua d14 hsf.

The next available port I can use is a pcie4 @ 8x.

Will I get away with performance being the same?

TLDR Pcie4 16x vs 8x? (for a 1080ti)

I’m Gaming at 1440p.

As the 1080ti is connected to a pcie4 slot, im assuming the couple of fps difference shown in the PCIe 3 comparison graphs, wont exist?

So it seems my 1080ti would be running at in pcie 3 mode, not 4, which means possibly losing single digit frames - as my 1080ti is more powerful than the 1080 tested by gamers nexus (eating up more bandwidth than their test shows)
