PCN in Bus Lane

Hi Guys

Im in need for some advice. On the 19th of November I went to Gloucester for a spot of Go karting. This was at about 8pm.

On the way the Satnav said to go down Lianthony Road. As I did we came up to the dock bridge which I went over when I saw a speed camera sign and a buses only sign. This was a avery new sign as I had been down there twice before for a job interview.

Unable to turn round on the bridge I drove off it and did a 3 point turn and drove the way I came. Heres where it gets interesting. I got yesterday a PCN for driving in the bus lane (which im not denying I did). The picture shows me driving out when the mistake was made and I had turned round to leave the zone.

Im just wondering If I can contest it due to:

*I didn't drive through but acknowledged the mistake and left the zone.
*Not local to the area.
*Was following Sat Nav (Crap excuse yes)

Heres the road photgraph (its abit out of date as the signs arnt shown).
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&s...=WKhGaYdyCgl84_7769k4sg&cbp=12,120.66,,0,4.58

The PCN photo shows me coming towards the google street view shot.

Any help would be great
Matt

Is "satnav says go" the new "computer says no" of the motoring world? Did the satnav being switched on render you completely incapable of reading road signs?

I wouldn't bother appealing it, you won't get anywhere, and, in my opinion, you'd only be providing evidence for prosecution for driving without due care and attention.

I encountered exactly the same bridge about 2 months ago when my Satnav also directed me over it. I also had zero local knowledge and had never driven in Gloucester before.

Despite this it was abundantly obvious to me before I reached the Bridge itself that I wasn't allowed to drive over it, and I was easily able to turn around and go somewhere else.

Pay the PCN and be more observant in future :p

Unusually nice post - what have you been eating? :p

Oh dear why do I bother in motors lol.

I wasnt explicitly following the satnav as I agreed where it wanted to go as I had been down there before and had no issues, they have only just changed it by the looks of things. It was dark unlit and I had mates in the car. So I was abit late spotting the sign.

Ive paid the fine and learnt my mistake.

please no one criticise the OP for this obvious mistake by both the SatNav and the council for not understanding the issue, it was dark and he had his mates in the car after all.
