My new BT GPS arrived today, thought I would test it by navigating to my nearest Tesco (I know the route with my eyes shut, but I'm sure you all tested your GPS for days going to places you already know :) ).

Anyway, after a 10 minute setup in my car, with cradles, TomTom finding my GPS etc, I finally set off.

I found it was really difficult to see my PDA screen because of the glare of the sun. It was very sunny today. Got any suggestions of how to get round this ?

Not going to be an everyday problem as I live near the Pennines, but just found it a little dissapointing that I could see nothing of the screen!

there isnt a pda screen out there than can handle the glare of the sun (i have a HP2210). the best way is to make sure its in a place which casts a shadow over it. i.e. A pillar, centre console etc.

I use my almost constantly, and I have it sitting under my A pillar. I know Jez puts his below the stereo, but thats a bit low for me.

Never have any problems with sunlight. I always laugh when I see these people with TomToms just below the rear view mirror, surely thats obstructing your view.

Thanks for the quick replies !

The PDA is a Dell Axim x51V, and is currently mounted in the vents in the centre console. I did switch it to the vents right of the steering wheel and that did improve it slightly.

I guess living in the UK, the bright sunlight isn't going to be a problem for the majority of the time...

Are some of the Colour schemes better than others, I noticed one for when it is dark.
