PDF Thumbnails as Icons

I can't get pdf files to preview the first page in the icon any more, and I've no idea how to get that back. I've tried Reader 8 and 9, and Foxit with no success.

Had a look around on Google, there's a lot of posts from people with the same issue. Just wondering if anyone here has lost that feature and managed to restore it at all?

Not had the problem myself. But do pictures and movies still display thumbnails? And is Acrobat set as the default program to open the files?

Late reply but yes, everything else still works. Office, pictures and videos etc. Adobe is set as default.
