Hey guys,

thinking of ordering PE6 for my trusty PC, was just wondering if the people that play it use mice and keyboardo or have bought themselves some sort of PC gaming pad and if so which did you stump for?

Thanks.

I got a Logitech controller, cost me about 14 quid i think and does the job well. Others have opted for the 360 (or PS2 can't remember ) controller and a prog to sort it.
It's nice sitting back with the controller rather than hunched over the keys and playing is instinctive with a controller but awkward as hell with the keys.

So you can use a Xbox 360 or PS2 controller on the PC, or am I interpreting that wrong?

I never knew that hehe.

Either buy a ps2 pad and converter or a 360 pad and converter. If you play d-pad then imo go for a ps2 pad, if you're a stick player then perhaps a 360 pad.

Personally I like the shoulder buttons ps2 style for pro evo, seeing as they're used constantly I think it's a big bonus. The analogue buttons on the 360 pad don't work that well for me when trying to do feints and speed changes, etc.

Another gripe I have about the 360 pad for pro evo is the four normal buttons, they don't feel very good for precise taps. It's mainly in shooting I find them very hit and miss.

Don't get me wrong I think the 360 pad is a great pad, for most games it's better than the ps2 pad. If they just sorted out the d-pad and main buttons it would be fantastic.

Quote from Seabass (creator of pes) himself:

'Well if I say this I might upset the Microsoft people, but our feeling is when you play the 360 version you don't get the same play feeling as you do with the PS2 controller. We think this is a very big issue and we think this is very important when the users play the game.'

you can use both a ps2 and 360 controller. ps2 of course needs a usb adapter. and then you just need to configure the settings within the pes6 options. windows detects these controllers and no drivers are required.

360 controllers do need drivers. most people avoid the official microsoft ones and use these......

Excellent thanks guys, any idea how much the adapters are for the PS2 controllers?

not much. I think i paid under a fiver for mine (a joytech 2 pad one). Mind you, i'm having trouble getting it to work in vista :( So i'm on the look out for another one. Works a treat in XP though.

Be careful which adapter you buy, i've got a cheap one from a popular site and it gives me laggy response and doesn't take into account the two stage press system of the ps2 buttons.

I then bought a Titanium S-Joy Converter which works perfectly :) .

does that work in vista mate?

If you want tonnes of buttons to play with in a sensible PS2 style controller look into the Saitek P2500. I got it for £30 when it came out about two years ago, two years later it's still going strong reviews! Plus, you could literally profile it to any game! I've got it on X3 Threat, Colin McRea Rally 2.0, i've even tried it on Call of Duty 2! It wasn't half bad!
Plus, it supports USB natively so you can't go wrong with USB support. To add to that, you get the profiling software is a very very powerful light piece of software!
I reckon it's going for about £10 - £15 now.
