Hi all..

I've recently bought a regulated power supply from a "competator" to power my pedals. I also got a 5 way power extender cable with it to allow me to power more than 1 pedal (currently only 2).

The problem is that it powers each of my 2 pedals alone with no problems (A Boss TU2 Tuner and a Nano Muff) but if I connect both to the supply then the Muff looses power..

Both have centre Negative tips as does the Power supply so I've no idea what the problem is.. can anyone help?

Si

How current do the pedals draw, and what is the maximum current supplied by the supply? Sounds like it may only be able to provide enough current for one pedal.

Sounds like the power supply does not supply enough current to run the two mate. Common problem as guitar pedals are fairly high drain and you need a beefy unit to power multiple pedals.

What are the specs of the power supply?

Edit: Beaten to it.

The PSU is the larger one, rated to 1200ma which I think should be fine, other guitar specific ones are only rated to 400-500ma..

I would imagine 1200mAh would be more than enough for both pedals.

When you connect them individually, did you use the 5 way adapter for that or a single lead? It's possible the 5 way power lead may have a broken connection in it. Try swapping the connectors over to the Muff and the TU2, if the TU2 stops working and the Muff starts then it will be a broken connection.

Tried that..

Both pedals work OK on their own either direct tot eh PSU or via the 5 way cable.

The Boss TU2 works OK no matter what configuration I use, it's just the Muff that seems to loose power when the Boss is connected.

I got a thing called a 'Power Bank' from a high street/out of town chain store that sells electronic parts, spares etc.

£20 and it powers 5. I stick my crybaby, mxr miniamp and a few behringers through it :)

Oh and it says AC->DC on it :D

Unfortunatly that place no longer stocks the Power Bank.. that's why I got this as a replacement..

No matter what I try I just can't get it to power the 2 pedals together so it looks like it's going back on monday and the hunt continues..

Oh yes :(!

I notice ebay have a few bit a tad more than the £20 I paid for mine - I can't recommend it enough.

Only thing that troubles me is I can't seem to find longer 2.1mm power cables anywhere, and the ones you get with it are a tad tight (30cm or so)
