Hi. When you see pedometer heart rate monitor with ISO Android compatible can you use these with out them or have you got to have an android or ISO

Take this Activity Tracker with Heart Rate Monitor,YAMAY® Sports Fitness Tracker Bluetooth Pedometer Wristband Bracelet with Step Counter and Calorie Counter/Sleep Monitor for Walking Running Jogging Compatible with Android Phone iPhone

I'm looking for one for my dad birthday but he is useless at computers plus we not got android or ios. Thanks.

Most you will be able to use without syncing them to a device but really if you get one of these you will want to in some manner. I don't know that brand but my Garmin has sync feature via my pc and my phone via Bluetooth. You will want to sync to the pc at least to get the benefits of updates and satellite reposition data etc if you use it for that.

Microsoft Band 2 and a Lumia? Lumias are simple to use for most non-tech-savvy people, that's what we got the mother in law using (Lumia, not Band 2).

I use a Band 2 due to it's heart rate tracking and it's been excellent.

why does he want one, it'll be even harder to use without a smart phone, trying to sync to the computer etc.

it gives you charts, what's he going to do with them?

seems an odd gift.

He just wants it for fun. He goes out walking a lot and wants it mainly to see how many steps he done and how far. Heart rate just a bonus.

I've got a Fitbit charge HR which will do your steps and heart rate.

It is designed really to be used alongside a phone app but comes with a dongle to sync to a pc.

After initial setup technically it doesn't need to be synced again, it'll still tell you what you want to know day by day (the time, your steps, your heart rate, distance travelled, flights of stairs and calories burned) but if you wanted to change, for example the watch face or alarm, you'd need to sync it up to the computer.

A pedometer doesnt tell you how far you've gone*, you need a GPS tracker for that.

*it may have a "distance" display but that just shows your average stride length multiplied by number of steps - not an accurate distance.
