I think you're confused.
This software stops people connecting to your PC from certain IP addresses known to belong to the large Media companies etc.
If your torrent d/l is slow on BT then this is because your connection is being 'traffic shaped' or 'port throttled' which is effectively the same thing; BT know what you are doing and are restrciting your bandwidth.
The way to get around it is to use a torrent client like uTorrent and switch the encryption on. That way you should get a much faster d/l because BT will only see encrypted traffic (which could be anything, like a VPN for example), not torrent traffic.
