On my daily drive from work and back, i get the most annoying drivers behind me, especially at night time.

I drive home on an A road which is dark and have a few bends, to which i drive at the speed limit (60) and safely thoughout (i'm too tired for enthusiastic driving after work).

I get the most annoying drivers behind me who wish to stay up my rear end and when it comes to a bend which i take at 60mph the car who was up my rear slows down and backs away from me. Only until we hit a straight road and ther driver is up my arse again.

It happens quite regulary on this road and it allways winds me up.

If you cant handle the twisty bits of the roads at a comfortable speed, how on earth are they capable of tailgaitng someone (which no one is)?

Why should they be pushing my to go faster on straight roads when they cant even go "fast" on bends?!

I hope others can share my fustration with this, or am i all alone?

I know how you feel, I get the same, 90% of roads I use have 30mph limits and I get morons tailgating me, or if feeling brave overtaking.

A few stupid bints have flashed their headlights or beeped at me when I eventually turn off.

Its an old cliche, but "get used to it" mate.

Happens up and down the country.

Compared to 15 years ago, when I first started driving, there are a whole lot more morons sat behind the wheel on the roads nowadays. :(

I say it's a limit, not a target, so if someone is tailing me, then i'll slow down to 25, if they want to overtake they can easier that way.

I've tried that, but it seems to rile people even more around these parts...

I 'm glad i'm not alone!

I try to not let it get to me, mabey take some deep breaths and relax (bit like wooooo-saahhh).

Otherwise the young idiot teenage boy would come out of me, drop the car into 4th and speed off. Which gets you knowhere and wastes petrol and just meens i'm giving in to pressure.

I'm glad i can contain myself now, i'm still trying to fight the urge of beeting the little kiddie boy racers on the motorway and such. It works sometimes, but other times, my ego gets the better of me :(

Its a learning process which i will soon overcome.

*TIP*

Twist rear view mirror so you cant see them

Turn stereo up

Sniger as the 1.0 ltr bad boy finaly passes you safe in the knowlage that they are prats

Works for me ;)

I get the opposite of this. My car has awful acceleration, and on my long drives north to see my grandad I often get very slow tourists driving at 40-45mph on a 60mph road. The road is very bendy for a 60mph road, and they slow down to the 40-45 for the corners, because they dont know whats around them... but I do, and would comfortably take them at 60. However, once back on the straight the put their foot down and I am unable to over take them, and then get stuck behind them at the next corner... adds about 50 mins to my journey :(

I can see what you're saying tho, I hate people being too close behind me, and I would never do it to anyone else.

LOL, I know how some of you guys feel.

As an ADI I frequently get that and worse with the 'L' on the roof, its like a red flag to other drivers, some of the stupid stunts I've witnessed.

On of the best, Pupils stalls as she trys to move off at a roundabout, Muppet behind bumps my car(No damage luckily) he gets out and first thing he says? "She stopped!!" lol, My reply, "Yes, she did dident she?"

Occasionally thiugh I'm driving the Mini Cooper and the odd muppet gets a surprise when I leg it away round the corner lol.

I'm familar with that situation, but it doesn't actually annoy me as it does you, perhaps it's maybe because i play chillout music whilst driving, and tend to tilt my rear view mirror slightly upwards to avoid a blinding, but is easily viewable by looking up ever so slightly. Bit dangerous i know, but lights in my eyes i'd consider to be even more of a hazard.

Actually come to think of it, ppl who haven't adjusted their lights on the road properly annoy me, coz it blinds you. The other thing however, that really really REALLY gets to me, is people that don't indicate on roundabouts!!!

My old man had that happen to him last year.

He runs his own driving school here from Alloa, First Driving, and had a taxi minibus do that to him whilst he was out with a pupil at a junction. She stalled the car and the Merc minibus drove right into the back of him at more than crawling speed.

Minibus driver got out and said "WTF do you think you are doing?".

Father pointed out that it was a driving school car and taxi driver bloke still didnt get it.

Its surprising how often this happens to me in my truck.

Now I'd have thought, the average car driver is cabable of taking bends quicker than me in my artic.

As many peeps know, on single carriageway roads, artics - indeed any HGV - are limited to 40MPH yet I often get people sitting in my rear blind spot and I then notice them dropping right back as I corner - usually without having to reduce speed significantly - and I pull a gap on them.

When running empty, its a lot more noticable as, obviously, without the weight the truck will go & handle a lot better in general.

Ultimately, I suppose it shows up the poorer drivers who drive along with their brains in neutral.

The best way to overtake, especially such a thing as an articulated truck, is to simply drop back, giving you ample "run up" space and a clearer view of whats ahead.

It never ceases to amaze me that drivers simply seem to disregard this!

Doing 30 behind someone isn't a problem, it's when they do 20mph... that's when I start getting peeved off.

(To Tupac especially) It's normally ok until they get to Broad Lane, but as soon as they start driving up the hill, it's 20mph time. I can't overtake there either, as it'd be a bit pointless seeing as how I'd have to pull into my street at the top of it anyway.

To be fair if someones tailgating you your supposed to slow down. That way if something happens that requries you to slow down or stop and the tailgater hits you, its with a much reduced speed and therefore less likely to be serious etc

Thats my Rugby to Lutterworth and Lutterworth to Rugby journey everyday. Everyday I have a last second suicide driver pull out in front of me on the A5 roundabout and frequently a traffic light grand prix on the M6 Jct 1 roundabout.
