Pen drive in xp

Is there a way to make an image of my pen drive and then have XP think its plugged in 24/7 when it isn't?

Is there any reason you can't just copy what's on there to a folder on your desktop?

You can get things like Daemon Tools to create virtual CD/DVD drives, but I'm not sure if can get virtual USB drives as its basically a folder.

Ah I need XP to actually "see/think" there is in fact a pen drive installed.

unless you can find a virtual usb drive / emulator, you might be able to rip it to an ISO and then mount in a virtual CD drive, it would act in a similar fashion.

Some info i've found that may help, but it looks complicated. Maybe buy a second usb drive?
