Pencil mod 3850

Dont short the resistor while the card has power though :p.

I found it near impossible to reduce the resistance by that much via using a pencil. I then used some 1500grit sand paper to roughen the top of the resistor a bit and then used the pencil and it made it a lot easier. I havent put much more than 1.33v through mine yet because I dont have a new cooler yet and I dont want the fan to be audible.

But with 1.33v the card is atitool stable at 823.5mhz and 3dmark06 stable at 843.75. Remember that if you reach 857mhz, you may need a new BIOS to remove a PLL lock.

got my card now, it's got the same pcb as you gurusan. Got 808 core on stock volts:D However i've been shading the resister you showed like mad and i'm getting nothing:confused: Any ideas?
 
Well I don't know what to tell you...that's definitely the resistor I've been shading...the one marked in blue on the first pic

A much easier way to get 1.33v would be to flash the card with a modified BIOS which you can do yourself or someone here or http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=48544 will provide one of you ask.

Thanks for the help, may have to try that when i've got some more time.

I persevered armed with the softest pencil i could find, and managed to boot up with 1.55v puurfect:p This seems to be a good 24/7 place to be with this zerotherm cooler temps are around 55c load - so i've stuck a bit of tape over it.
 
Right seem to have hit this 'bios lock', as 862mhz is completely stable and 863 just causes screen to go blank. So can anyone reccomend me a bios to use and how to flash it with it?
 
Here is the default (Unlocked) bios from my GeCube 3850 512mb. So far it has taken me to 1005MHz on the GPU @1.55v. Flash at your own risk.

edit: I have never had a card that has been so much fun to overclock.
